The 100 Mile Garage Sale is a family-friendly, multi-city garage sale even that happens every spring across 15 cities in Eastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Thousands of individuals and businesses participate with their own garage sales, and it’s not uncommon to find a whole neighborhood full of houses clearing out their garages and attics at this event. This year was the first year that 100 mile garage sale had its route mapped out on Google Maps to make sales easier to find, so my creative partner and I wanted to lean into that by comparing the experience of going to a garage sale to the experience of a treasure hunt. And all the fun, pirate-themed, goodness that comes with it. We even made our own pirate map out of the route!
