100 Mile Garage Sale

The 100 Mile Garage Sale is a family-friendly multi-city garage sale even that happens every spring across 15 cities in Eastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Thousands of individuals, businesses, sometimes even whole neighborhoods participate with their own garage sales. 2025 was the first year the event’s route was available on Google Maps to make sales easier to find, so my creative partner (a copywriting student at Brainco) and I leaned into the experience as a treasure hunt—pirate-themed, of course—including our own custom “pirate map” of the route.

Branded Treasure Chest Basket for the Kiddos

Participating sales would give families with young kids a pirate-themed branded basket. Kids could then fill it with treasures they find—just as many as fit—giving them something fun to do while their parents explore the sale.

AI use: The map-themed billboard and poster were created using AI-generated vector graphics that I generated on Midjourney, polished in Illustrator, and then arranged on a stock paper-texture background with the text and custom drawn “trail” to create the map. The treasure basket image was made using an AI-generated treasure chest which I then combined with the sticker (which features an AI-generated icon) to create the final mock up.

We thought it would be fun to take the idea of following a treasure map to the bargain out into the real world!

Ambient

AI use: This execution was created using an AI-generated image that I added the custom branded sign (which features an AI-generated icon) and “ground paint” onto in order to make the final mock up.

Social Media

AI use: The executions in this section were created using a combination of AI-generated materials, stock assets, and custom-made elements that were then composited together to make the final mock ups.
